We’re looking for a compassionate and skilled Reading Tutor to join our growing network of educators. As part of the Self-Degree platform, you’ll guide learners in developing strong reading comprehension, fluency, and critical thinking skills through personalized, AI-assisted, and interactive learning experiences.

Your role is to inspire a lifelong love of reading — helping students gain confidence, focus, and a deeper connection with language.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1-on-1 or small group reading instruction via the Self-Degree platform.

• Assess learner reading levels and create personalized reading plans based on goals and abilities.

• Use interactive techniques (read-alouds, guided reading, comprehension discussions) to strengthen literacy skills.

• Collaborate with AI tutors to track progress, recommend materials, and adapt difficulty levels.

• Help students develop vocabulary, comprehension, and critical reading strategies.

• Engage with homeschooling parents and families to align lessons with educational goals.

• Create or curate reading quests, challenges, and story-based missions to gamify the learning process.

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Education, English, Literacy Studies, or a related field.

• Minimum 2 years of reading instruction or tutoring experience, preferably with K–12 learners.

• Strong understanding of phonics, fluency, comprehension, and literacy development.

• Experience working with struggling or reluctant readers a plus.

• Familiarity with homeschooling education and personalized learning approaches.

• Comfortable using digital tools and AI-assisted learning systems.

• Excellent communication skills, empathy, and patience with learners of all levels.

• Bonus: Certification in Reading Recovery, Orton-Gillingham, or similar literacy programs.
