Assessment Designer (Remote / Flexible Hours)

We help homeschooling families, independent learners, and career changers learn smarter — with 1 hour of Self-Degree equaling 4–5 hours of traditional study through scientifically proven learning techniques.

We’re seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Assessment Designer to craft engaging, meaningful, and adaptive assessments that accurately measure learner understanding and skill mastery.

In this role, you’ll work with curriculum designers, AI developers, and subject matter experts to design quizzes, projects, missions, and interactive evaluations that make assessment a motivating and rewarding experience — not a test of memory.

Responsibilities

• Design formative and summative assessments for a variety of subjects and skill levels.

• Develop AI-compatible, gamified evaluation formats (missions, badges, quests, challenges).

• Ensure assessments align with curriculum goals, learning outcomes, and accreditation standards.

• Integrate active recall, problem-solving, and project-based evaluations into assessments.

• Create rubrics, feedback systems, and grading frameworks for both AI and human review.

• Collaborate with AI developers to implement adaptive testing and personalized difficulty levels.

• Ensure accessibility and fairness across all learner types and backgrounds.

• Evaluate and continuously improve the validity and reliability of Self-Degree assessments.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Assessment Design, Instructional Design, or a related field.

• 3+ years of experience creating or managing educational assessments or learning evaluations.

• Strong understanding of pedagogical frameworks, learning outcomes, and Bloom’s taxonomy.

• Experience designing competency-based or mastery-based assessments.

• Familiarity with digital learning platforms, AI tools, or adaptive learning systems.

• Excellent attention to detail and ability to write clear, creative, and learner-friendly questions.

• Bonus: Experience with gamified education, AI-driven personalization, or alternative education systems (e.g., Montessori, project-based learning).
